God’s Gift
We all love to receive gifts. Big or small, extravagant or simple, it is always exciting unwrapping the present, and seeing what is inside. The better you are known to the giver, the more exciting it is, as they know exactly what you will like best.
In Psalm 127:3, children are described as a gift from the Lord, and a reward. Because God has unlimited knowledge of who you are and what you like, you know that any gift from Him is going to be GOOD! The children He gives, although not perfect, are given from a perfect Creator for you to enjoy.
Now as parents, we know that some days with our children are challenging, and we feel ourselves stretched to the limits of patience. And being honest, they may not feel like much of a gift. In these moments, ask Holy Spirit to remind you of the truth of this verse, and to give you a fresh perspective. Perhaps it is an opportunity for you to grow into maturity in patience and problem-solving. Maybe it is an opportunity for them to see the grace and love of God demonstrated even in their weakness.
Whatever stage of your parenting journey you are in, know that you are not alone. There is an Almighty Father Who is ready and willing to help you with whatever you are facing. Set your gaze firmly on Him, grounding yourself in the Truth of His Word, and He will show you exactly how good your gift or gifts are.
